“Gaspard and Lisa Go to the Sony Building 2013”

To celebrate the release of the new “Gaspard and Lisa” picture book, the Sony Building in Ginza, Tokyo is holding an event that allows everyone to enjoy the world of Gaspard and Lisa.
Neither rabbits nor dogs, but with charming looks, the extremely popular Gaspard and Lisa come straight from Paris.
During the event, the entire Sony Building will be awash in the world of Gaspard and Lisa.
In the outside event space Sony Square, one scene from the book, which is seeing its first release in Japan, will be displayed using flower art.
In the 1st floor Entrance Hall, limited goods from this event will be on sale – must-haves for fans!
In addition, in the 8th floor Communication Zone Opus and in the Sony Showroom, visitors will be able to experience the world of the picture books in a novel way, thanks to a collaboration between Sony products and “Gaspard and Lisa.”
Visitors will also be able to enjoy other limited features, such as original menus only available during the event.

World’s First*1 Reproduction of Kabuki Tradition and Originality in Vivid Sony 4K*2 Imagery
“Kabuki in 4K” Commemorates Opening of New Kabuki Theater
~The World of Kabuki Experienced in Sony 4K~

The Sony Building in Ginza, Tokyo, in collaboration with the new Ginza Kabukiza theater, brings you an all-new moving experience with the world’s first reproduction of the tradition and originality of Japanese kabuki in state-of-the-art, high-definition, high-resolution Sony 4K imagery.
Visitors to the Communication Zone OPUS on the 8th floor can enjoy the world of kabuki, filmed on a Sony F65 CineAlta camera, in stunning 4K imagery. A segment of the play Yoshitsune Senbonzakura (“Yoshitsune and the Thousand Cherry Trees”) as well as interviews with Ennosuke Ichikawa and Kankuro Nakamura (both famous young Kabuki actors) will be shown on a large, 200-inch screen in 5.1-channel surround sound.
The Entrance Hall on the 1st floor showcases Sony’s 4K motion picture CineAlta cameras, the F65, F55 and F5, as well as Sony’s 4K technology, and displays the actual lion cub costumes used in the kabuki play Renjishi.
The Sony Showroom exhibits the costume used to portray Tadanobu Sato (warlord at the end of the Heian Period), performed by Ennosuke Ichikawa in Yoshitsune Senbonzakura, and visitors can view the part of the play in which the costume was worn on a BRAVIA 4K LCD TV. The Sony Showroom also lets you experience filming and screening the beauty of kabuki using Sony products.

45th Ai no Izumi
Achieve your dreams! we support children’s dreams and challenges

Under the joint sponsorship of Sony Group’s 18 companies and two foundations, we are implementing the 45th Ai no Izumi, a charity fund-raising event.
Through Save the Children Japan, we plan to support “Children’s Dreams & Challenges,” the third phase of the “Achieve Your Dreams Project” implemented by the Great East Japan Earthquake reconstruction support project REST

This charity drive has been held every year since 1968.
Our goal is to restart or help continue sports and cultural activities for children whose schools and neighborhoods were shut down as a result of the Great East Japan Earthquake, and allow them to enjoy more normal daily lifestyles, with hope for the future. In order to accomplish this, we are providing assistance and support to various organizations.

A 10m-tall illumination titled “Crystal Aqua Trees” will be installed in Sony Square, the Sony Building’s 1st Floor outdoor event space. In response to changes in the landscape of the street and the movement of people, as well as whenever contributions are made to the Ai no Izumi (Fountain of Love), the illumination will play beautiful music in harmony with a gorgeous light display.

Curiosity comes alive when you experience the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium at Sony

This year marine creatures from the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium are making another visit to Tokyo. The Sony Building is the venue for rarely glimpsed wonders of the sea and the secrets of its creatures. Set sail for seas of adventure with Sony.

Encounter sharks, moray eels and sea turtles in the street!
Sea creatures raised at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium have arrived! Looking at them from the other side of the tank, it will almost be as if they were swimming through the streets of Ginza. We will be introducing new sea creatures during the run of the event, so be sure to come more than once!
♦ Between 11:30–12:00 and 16:00–16:30, you can watch the animals being fed.

“THOMAS and FRIENDS: Day of the Diesels” will be released in Japan on April 28 (Sat), and to commemorate this event, everyone from children to adults will be able to enjoy Sony products and Thomas-themed events throughout the entire Sony Building.

In the Communication Zone OPUS on the 8th floor, visitors can experience Sony's network world together with Thomas. At the network island in the hands-on experience area, use Sony’s DSLR camera, the α57, released on April 27, or the 3D Handycam (HDR-TD20V) to shoot pictures that place you in the Thomas diorama or to view yourself in a 3D image with Thomas.
In addition, there will be a special display of the seldom seen N-gauge railroad model Sony planned to develop in the 1960s, the Sony Microtrain (prototype model).

In the Sony Showroom on the 2nd floor, there will be a Thomas diorama to play in. Film your children enjoying themselves here, and then using “Play Memories Studio,” easily edit the film to create a memory, as easily as playing a game.

In the Entrance Hall on the 1st floor, take a souvenir photograph with a large Thomas model that has moveable eyes!

In addition, you can participate in a stamp rally* to win Thomas products or enjoy original dishes with a Thomas theme.

In the Entrance Hall on the 1st floor, you'll find the official Peanuts shop "Snoopy Town Shop," open for a limited time and offering special limited-edition goods for sale. In addition, there is a stamp rally that qualifies you for drawings in a lottery to win Peanuts goods, original menus at the restaurant featuring lots of Peanuts items, and even more special events unique to this event. At the Sony Square, Sony Building's outdoor event space in Ginza, white, blue and green LED lights create a giant, colorful Christmas ornament to light up the face of the buildings, adding brilliance to the Ginza street scene!

World Natural Heritage Ogasawara Islands in 3D
– Delivering World-class Inspiration –

In celebration of the inscription of the Ogasawara Islands on UNESCO's list of World Natural Heritage sites this year, the Sony Building in Ginza, Tokyo will sponsor an event that introduces the natural environment of the islands in exciting 3D images–from Monday, October 24 to Sunday, November 6.

The Ogasawara Islands are a group of more than 30 small to large oceanic islands that lie some 1,000 kilometers off the shore of the Japanese archipelago. The mystical beauty of the islands' natural environment has long remained unknown to many, but Sony's superior imagery and powerful 3D imaging technologies have captured its essence for all to enjoy. Feast your eyes on the world's first 3D images of the Ogasawara Islands at Communication Zone OPUS on the 8th floor of the Sony Building and experience aspects of nature found only on the islands. The images will particularly spotlight the unique ecosystem that has won the islands their recognition as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, as well as the Sekimon area on Hahajima, where endemic species and rare species still exist in their primordial state, the magnificent blue sea that is affectionately called "Bonin Blue," and the schools of dolphins that frolic in the waters around the islands year-round.

Display panels and photos of the Ogasawara Islands will adorn the first-floor entrance hall and provide basic information about the islands, their history, culture, plant and animal ecosystems, and the World Natural Heritage in a way that everyone can easily understand and enjoy. Furthermore, the UNESCO World Natural Heritage certificate (replica) will be displayed in the eighth-floor foyer of Communication Zone OPUS.

Visiting the real Ogasawara Islands may not be easy, but you can experience the magnificent nature of the islands simply by visiting this event. Do take this wonderful opportunity to appreciate the mystical world of the Ogasawara Islands.

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in 3D

Under the supervision of the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, Sony Building introduces the ecosystem (the interactions of living organisms) of the seas around Okinawa. Both living organisms and images will be used to illustrate the theme "Discovery! Excitement Under the Sea!"

Okinawa’s Churaumi (beautiful sea) will be reproduced in a huge 14-ton aquarium, filled with live sharks, moray eels and other creatures, in Sony Square (the outside event space). Inside, you can enjoy watching starfish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and small fish such as anemone fish that live in the shallows surrounding coral reefs, which are known as Ino in the Okinawan dialect.

In Communication Zone OPUS, on the 8th floor, the lives of the living organisms that inhabit the seas around Okinawa are shown through 3D HD videos on a large, 200-inch screen. The images of strangely shaped and brightly colored fish will entertain everyone from kids to adults, and provide information on their ecosystem.

Pingu Happy Valentine

"Pingu Happy Valentine" event is open from January 28 -February 14,2011 .

<About Pingu>
The beloved charecter Pingu was created in 1980 by Swiss artist Otmar Gutmann, who sculpted Pingu by hand using clay. The figure was manually animated using a form of stop-motion animation known as claymation. Last year was Pngu's 30th anniversary.
Pingu is a young boy penguin who libes in the South Pole. The stories tell of his many activities with his group of friends. The surprise and joy of thie ordinary everyday adventures have provided us with many layers of warm and happy memories.
The newest episode in the Pingu daymation series, loved around the worldm now comes to the SOny Building in Ginza in a 3D version. Please enjoy this episode of Pingu, only available here!

The Eyes of Humans Flying in the Sky
-Sony’s Challenge to the Next Generation 3D Movie.-

You can experience a 3D movie shot using cutting-edge 3D technology from the viewpoint of people "flying" through the sky.
The theme is "The Eyes of Humans Flying in the Sky",what if people could really fly? The approximately 6 minute movie combines shots by a man flying with the use of a rocket pack and scenes shot from high up in a helicopter. Enjoy the sensation of feeling as if you too are flying through the air!
The movie will be screened until May 9th (Sunday), from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The screenings are free for anyone, so please take time to visit Communication Zone OPUS on the 8th floor.

ASAHIYAMA zoo in High Definition

Asahiyama zoo is the northernmost zoo in Japan, and is located in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido.

Ai no Izumi(Fountain of Love)
Sony Group Charity Program

Every winter since 1968,a charity event ,"Ai no Izumi"(Fountain of Love)has been held at the Sony Building in Ginza,Tokyo. Celebrating 42nd years of this charity, we are presenting various events as well as introducing CSR activities by Sony group companies Under the slogan of "throw a coin for someone you care -Sony group charity program-".
Ai no Izumi appears every winter in the Sony Square outdoor event space that faces the busy Sukiyabashi Intersection in Ginza. This year, eco-friendly illuminations will light up the fountain and its backdrop, a 10m-high wall of green made of verdant leaves and vivid Cyclamen flowers. A performance of water, lights, and music begins whenever someone makes a donation by tossing an original coin into the fountain.

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in High Definition

The theme for the 41st Sony Aquarium is [secrets of the ocean - like you’ve never seen before] - and we’re scaling things up!
The 1st floor event space will hold an aquarium over 5 meters in width,
filled with a variety of colorful fish from Okinawa’s seas.
On the 200 inch high-definition screen at the Opus Communication Zone on the 8th floor, visitors can watch Okinawa’s whale sharks and manta rays in 3D!
And in the Sony Showroom, visitors can learn about the ecology and habits of fish by watching them in on-screen action,
using Sony’s unrivalled high-definition equipment.

The power of the wind provides energy for
the Sony Building

On June 1, 2007, the Sony Building joined the Green Power Certification System to promote renewable,
wind-generated electric power, as part of its activities to preserve the environment.
We will further implement the system in 2008,
and stage an event on the theme of environmental initiatives to celebrate Environment Month in June.
