Sony Building closed on March 31, 2017, for the purpose of reconstruction. It is slated to reopen in the summer of 2018 as “Ginza Sony Park.”

Sony Building, set to undergo a major transformation under the GINZA SONY PARK PROJECT, closed temporarily as of Friday, March 31, 2017.
The building, with eight floors above-ground and four below-ground, was opened on April 29, 1966. And ever since it was built on the corner of Sukiyabashi Crossroad with the aim of turning it into the company showroom, it has stood as a symbol of Ginza for 50 years, welcoming numerous visitors from all over Japan and the world.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the support shown by Sony fans and Sony Building fans for our showroom allowing visitors to try out Sony’s latest products before anywhere else, and our hall for allowing visitors to enjoy the Sony Group’s entertainment as a hub for disseminating information on Sony. We would also like to thank everyone for their participation in the Sony Aquarium events held over summer every year, and the winter charity program, Ai no Izumi, among other such seasonal events.
The Ginza Sony Park is slated to open in the summer of 2018 under the concept of being a very open and public space that will stimulate the curiosity of people who visit the town of Ginza, and it will function as the hub for disseminating information in a new era.
